Measu Bellay

Born to Ethiopian immigrants and raised in Maryland, Measu Bellay’s journey as a photographer began as a child when her father passed down his camera. Her background in Economics and social science research has given her unique perspective in this field, and informs her artistic and ethical practices in Photography. Her mission in photography is to celebrate humanity, whether she is using her images to zoom in on or reimagine her life experiences. She is currently freelancing in the DC area and is available for commercial and editorial work.

She was recently announced as one of ten finalist for Flickr, SmugMug, and Black Women Photographers collaborative grant.

Her work was exhibited at Studio Gallery DC’s RE exhibition om January 2022 and at Houston’s POST HTX gallery in the Summer of 2023.
